There are many veterinary services a new puppy/kitten will ultimately need and those costs should be considered when adopting that new family member. With three or more wellness visits, a spay/neuter surgery, vaccines, and heartworm prevention, the costs can rapidly mount up. In an effort to help alleviate some of those concerns, and ensure that your newest, most vulnerable family members receive the care they need, check around and find the pediatric wellness package that best suits your needs. Ask other pet owner friends if they have a plan and how is it working for them.
Pediatric, Adult and Senior packages can include a variety of routine wellness and preventive services for your pets. Most veterinarians in our area offer these packages. It is your responsibility to find the best package for your pet. Be prepared with a list of questions when you start the search for your pet’s wellness package. Don’t be afraid to ask these questions up front…you need the answers to determine which plan to purchase.
Questions to ask:
Q: Do I have to decide on my first visit, or can I have some time to think about this/discuss with my spouse, etc?
Q: What if I change my mind and decide against the plan after it's in place?
Q: What if something happens to my pet or something comes up and I no longer need the plan…do I still have to continue paying for the package?
Q: Do you cut medical corners to cut costs?
Q: Is this a contract for services and how long is the commitment period?
Q: If I give my pet to someone else, does the package transfer with the pet?
Q: How about emergencies…what will the plan pay if my pet gets parvo, is hit by a car, eats a toy, breaks a bone, etc?
Q: Can I pay on an installment plan?
Q: How about dental cleanings and tooth extractions…are they covered?
Q: If I purchase a package, do I get any other discounts like boarding services or grooming?
Q: Do I get a discount for multiple pets?
Q: What services/procedures are excluded?
